Welcome to my World of the Supernatural!

Twenty-five years ago, my publisher coined the term “ghostlore” to describe my unique kind of history: blending verified events, folklore and paranormal reports of ghosts, hauntings and other unexplained phenomena. Ever since, I’ve been sharing my spooky take on both local history and the supernatural tales of America and the world. I’m proud to have been recognized by the Chicago Public Library Foundation for significant contributions to Chicago’s literary culture. As of 2025, I’ve written twenty books (and counting) on the connections among history, culture and extraordinary experiences, and I teach in-person and online courses, make handmade supernatural-inspired perfumes and host a YouTube channel where we talk about all things supernatural. I’m also a devoted Catholic, and lately I’ve been warning against the dangers of the occult. You’ll see my Catholic media collected on my Gadarene Media page below. I hope you enjoy browsing my work.
